What we do

We specialize in providing Section 28 Children's Behavioral Rehabilitative and Community Services in Maine for children with behavioral challenges. We provide home and community based services for children, in the life development areas of: 1. Social skill building, including communication, team work, sharing, leading, participation, and following rules safely. 2. Behavioral skill building, helping children to talk about their feelings, reach important behavioral goals, and manage their emotions well. 3. Skills of daily living that will help children to participate at home and in all social settings outside the home, knowing self care, chores, and other important goals of childhood and adolescence. Our service area: Our service area covers parts of Kennebec, Waldo and Oxford counties. This includes some of the Central and Western Mountain region, and Waldo county. Especially, Augusta, Gardiner, Hallowell, Winthrop, Manchester, Wayne. We also may cover Dixfield and Rumford.

How do we live our stories? Do they drive us, or do we make good choices? Our compelling narrative is both understood and shaped by our own choices, what we say, how we reach out. There is lots of messaging out there, to tell us what our stories are. Images tell us who we are, should be, or what our stories are. But we can take on a challenge, that is, our stories are not written for us. They don't have to overpower us or determine who we are. We can learn to make aware choices, live a compelling, meaningful narrative, and help others as we do. This is most evident in working with children who have developmental challenges. But we can all learn, to live fully and work our story with awareness, compassion and liveliness.

Children, families and communities need to have hopes and dreams, and a way to work toward them.

Behavioral Health services can support children and families across the generations in realizing the basics, and living life more independently, self sufficiently, and fully. We also support the data, to support the programs.

Catherine "Caitlin" Carson-Gabriel
Bio and Qualifications Caitlin was motivated to start 10 Forward as a way to bring together 25 years of experience in serving communities to help families and children thrive. She has extensive experience leading and managing Section 28 Children's Behavioral Services. Early career: From secretary to Associate book publicist for Doubleday & Company in New York City, and shifted gears to become nonprofit executive in support of children and communities with a special focus on arts and disabilities. A former Registered Fundraising Counsel in New York State, Caitlin has researched and written grants, supported strategic planning and major gifts for numerous initiatives. Former officer for the Westchester NY Association of Development Officers. She was Director of Development for The Westchester Association of Mentally Ill Children and Director of Annual Giving for Westchester ARC. In Maine, Caitlin has extensive experience in community building and support; directly teaching and supporting individuals trying to improve their lives, through the arts, behavioral support and professional development. Certified Behavioral Health Professional Trainer, Certified BHP, Certified Direct Support Professional, a former Adult Education teacher. Served on the Board of DIrectors of 82 High Street, an affordable housing program in Farmington, for 10 years, a project that built three new affordable housing buildings. Education: Caitlin holds a BA in American Studies from Fordham University at Rose Hill, studied art at SUNY Purchase, and earned an M.Ed. from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, conducting evidence-based fieldwork in rural Maine. Caitlin is proficient in American Sign Language.
